देविकाच्या एका डोळ्यात अश्रु आणि दुसर्या डोळ्यात आनंदाश्रू होते. तिच्या डोळ्या समोरून तिचे आयुष्य झरकन तरळून गेले. तिला वडीलांनी कुठल्याही प्रसंगात ठाम राहायला शिकवले होते. देविका साठी अंतिम निर्णायक स्थिती आलीच होती कारण सहा महिन्या पासून तिच्या वडीलांची तब्बेत खराब होती. डॉक्टरांनी बरेच प्रयत्न करून सुद्धा पदरात काहीच यश पडत नव्हते.
डॉक्टरांनी कुटुंबाला अंतिम निर्णय विचारला? तिने दोलायमान स्थितीत एक कठीण पण ठाम निर्णय घेतला. वैकुंठ एकादशीच्या दिवशीच ठीक रात्री बारा वाजताच वडीलांचा व्हेंटिलेटर काढायचे ठरले. अंतिम वेळ जवळ येऊन ठेपली. देविकाने वडीलांना हसत निरोप दिला. अचानक तिच्या वडीलांची तब्बेत सुधारली. मात्र तिला नशीबाने वडीलांच्या बदल्यात जवळ बोलवून घेतले.
